Dr. Tom O’Connor and Dr. Don Bowyer founded the group. O'Connor says "The Jazz Writers Big Band is a group of 18 musicians who perform music written and arranged by members of the band. Musicians in the band are university and public school educators, college students, and professional musicians in the A-State region."
